Retinol for skin: How to achieve the maximum results!

When we are in our twenties we don't realize that taking care your skin from the beginning is the key of aging gracefully. I personally consider retinol a miracle cream but a lot of us don't understand exactly what it does and how it really works.

Retinol is designed to neutralize free radicals, stimulates collagen production and smooths fine lines and wrinkles. Retinol is in most anti-aging creams but they come in a very low does (.01%). If you get a prescription you will start at .5 to1%. If you never used it before I suggest you start with .5% for the first time.

How To Apply It

As i mentioned previously, retinol is a miracle cream but apply it too much or too often can actually cause more damage to your skin. For the best results I came up with a skincare routine:

  1. Wash your face really well.
  2. Wait until your SKIN IS COMPLETELY DRY!!! This part is crucially important because if your skin is damp the retinol will absorb too deep into your skin and cause irritation.
  3. Take a pea size amount and start applying (upward and outward motions).
  4. You can use your moisturizer at the end.

You can use retinol every night but if you see your skin is getting irritated, use it every other night or once a week. Don't get frustrated when your don't see the results right away. It takes several weeks for your skin to start adjusting to retinol. I personally started three times a week and increased it as time went on.

You can use retinol with other products such as Vitamin C but dermatologists suggest that you use Vitamin C in the morning and your retinol at night. Remember to be patient with retinol. the skin takes time to adjust. Always remember to wear a sunscreen since it will make you skin sensitive. Shop the starter kit below and love your skin forever.
