Ultimate DIY facemask
Growing up I never had an issue with pimples but doesn't mean that I haven't had my share of dealing with those little devils. The worst ones are the ones that pop up when you have an important event to go to. I feel like they just know when to make a big entrance. However, one thing that kept my face pimple free was my mom's secret face mask. It worked wonders then and it works wonders now.
Buying products online or at the store can get pricey. Homemade masks are cheaper and work better than know skincare brands. If only I had a quarter for each time I spend $20 or more on skin products, I'd never have to work again. After failed attempts to control my pimple, I have always come back to my mom's miracle mask.
You may ask "OK, how good is this miracle mask anyway?" What if I told you that this mask works on every skin type and tone. For example, my skin is super oily and my mom has super dry skin, yet it gives us the same result - brighter and shinier skin that's a pimple free.
The Miracle Mask
I have tried other homemade mask that works perfectly for my skin but it doesn't give me lost lasting results. I think it's time for you to discover the best homemade facial mask in the history of masks - just kidding!
- One egg;
- 1/2 cup of oatmeal;
- 1 teaspoon of honey(if you want);
- Blender/stone grinder.
Take 1 cup oatmeal and put it in the mixer for 15 seconds (note: you don't want the oatmeal to turn into powder). In a small container, collect the egg white and mix the oatmeal with the egg. If your mask is still liquid that's okay - you can add more oatmeal in the mix.
Take a teaspoon of honey and whisk it with the mix (note: I usually do a half of a teaspoon). Take the mask and put it in the fridge for 15-30 minutes. It needs to get cooler.
When you apply the mask, it should glide on your face and stay there. If it's runny, add more oatmeal. Leave the mask no more than 20 minutes and wash it off with water. You will feel the difference right away - like your skin is finally breathing.
Why do we use oatmeal?! Think of oatmeal as the scrub - when the mask dries on your face, you will feel a little pull. That's because the oatmeal is extracting all the toxins out of the pores. I usually like to do the mask at night so that my skin can relax, breathe and take all the nutrients in. I guess that's why they call it a "beauty sleep."
Don't forget to apply a moisturizer to your skin so that it won't be too dry.
Use the mask 3-4 times a week. You want your skin to relax. Go and give your skin a chance to breathe. If you do try the mask, please comment below and share your experience.
